How to choose a banquet hall in Roorkee

Most families book a venue once or twice in a lifetime, so the questions that matter only become obvious afterwards. This is the list worth taking to every visit.

1. Start with the guest count, not the venue

Fix a realistic number before you visit anywhere. Venues are quoted by capacity, and a hall that is comfortable for 400 feels cramped at 600 and empty at 150. If your list is uncertain, work from the invitation count and assume most local families attend.

2. Check the date against the season

Wedding demand in this region concentrates around November to February and again from April to July. Popular dates in those months go months ahead, and rates are highest then. A date just outside the peak often costs noticeably less for the same venue.

3. Ask who does the catering

This single question changes the budget more than any other. Ask directly:

• Is catering in-house, or can outside caterers come in?
• If outside caterers are allowed, is there a royalty or kitchen charge?
• Is the menu customisable, and is there a tasting before booking?
• Are there separate rates for vegetarian and non-vegetarian menus?

4. Look at parking honestly

Count the parking during a visit, not from the brochure. A useful rule of thumb is one car for every three to four guests for a local wedding. Ask whether parking is on site or on the road, and whether valet is included.

5. Rooms for outstation guests

If relatives are travelling in, a venue with rooms on the premises saves a great deal of coordination. Ask how many rooms are held for a wedding booking, what the rate is, and whether check-in and check-out times can flex around the function.

6. Power backup and the things nobody asks

Ask what the generator covers. Backup that runs the lights but not the air conditioning is a real problem at a summer wedding. While you are there, also check:

• Air conditioning for the full hall, and whether it is charged separately
• A green room for the bride and groom, and where it is
• Stage size, and whether décor is included or arranged separately
• Sound restrictions and the cut-off time for music
• Whether the hall is booked for one function that day or two

That last one is worth insisting on. A hall turning over two functions in a day means a rushed setup and guests overlapping in the car park.

7. Get the advance and cancellation terms in writing

Before paying anything, get the total, what the advance covers, the payment schedule, and the cancellation terms on paper. Confirm what happens if guest numbers change after booking — many venues allow adjustment up to a certain point before the date.

8. Visit at the time of day your function runs

An evening reception hall looks different at 11 am. If the function is at night, visit at night. Ask to see the hall dressed for an event if one is being set up — photographs are taken on the venue's best day.
